so i have been reading up on my crafting a little bit and i was going to be taking alchemy/tailoring. now from tons of people i read posts from they say only take alchemy to 399 i beleive... number might be off, but it allows you to make the highest level mana stones. they say after that its pretty much useless. well for a mage the later levels allow me to make books and orbs and such. should i listen to the forums and just take alchemy to 399?

reason i ask is because i hear cooking is really helpful as well. with a SM we can eat a peice of food and give us 2k DP which is an instant DP pet. for those who dont know how strong the DP pet is, it is the equivelant to an actually player. Tailoring will also allow me to create my own armor.

so i guess what im trying to say is in a simple summary would be what 2 crafting should i go: alchemy - cooking - tailoring

i have not gotten to test them in beta yet.. but having to much fun playing my SM in pve

p.s. are we going to make any crafting sub board for the forums? just curious.

If you are a mage then yes, expert it. The people who say only go to 399 mean only do 399 if you aren't doing alchemy for the weapons. If you are a mage then yeh, I would say max alchemy and tailoring on your mage. Keep in mind you can always just make another character to max more crafts.

Well the reason that ppl stop at 399 is becoz alchemy expert doesnt make good profit compared to other proffesion.

Making those green/blue/golden weapon needs luck, u need to crit a normal item which sometimes is just so difficult to get

I encounter once that i only get 1 "ingredient weapon" out of 9 attempt, wasted 54 regular weapon stones, with that I can only make a1 craftman weapon out of 9 possible chances. Luckily I got the blue weapon with that 1 chance after that.

I would go for cooking expert for the 2000DP n 4000DP food, and leave my alchemy to 399 for money making.

Well that only applies if you are in it to make money. If you leave it at 399 then you won't be able to make your own experts weapons and you will have to buy them. I don't do crafts to make money, I do crafts so that I can make my own stuff and it have my name on it. Besides, as I said. You aren't limited to experts crafts per account, its 2 experts crafts per character.

O.o I always thought that it's 1 expert per character?

Ya it's cool to make ur own armor provided u have the funding to get ur crafting up to expert =D i would go for money making proffesion then invest into others.

well seeing how easy it is in this game to make money from items and such that you get from grinding and questing i see funding to be pretty easy to get. granted you wont get expert by lvl 10 but by 50 you should have more then enough to max atleast 1 skill.

NA is going to be two experts crafts per character, I think ayase or someone else from NCSoft said it ages ago. Money was never an issue for me, I had no problems.

Yeah 1.5 allows you to expert a second craft skill after you get a first one to 450.  Personally, I've always been of a similar mind to evil, being able to make your own stuff will balance the cost of leveling your craft to a degree, maybe not as much if you're making armor or weapons, but for consumables yeah.  I've found as a sorc I go through a retarded amount of pots if I want to minimize my downtime, being able to make them myself saves me kinah, and time trying to find what I need off the broker or other players at a reasonable price, especially since a lot of the materials to make said pots are usually near the vicinity in which you are leveling or questing.

Come retail I'll probably focus on alchemy first, and depending on the cash flow go from there.

I've decided im going Full armor smithing come retail and handicrafting but not as seriously. That way i can use all the refining stones that i get as drops and make my own armor, accessories and weapons (except 1h for shield/mace combo).

Once the Kinah starts getting low i get motivated to go do quests and grind things that drop refining stones.

When Kinah and refining stones are in abundance I'm motivated to craft some sweet new items for myself, Then I'm ready to go out and grind again(but better than before lol)

It will definitely keep the level grind movin' right along.

I'm already hooked

It's nice to be able to make your own stuff, but being in a legion also has its advantages.  I mean, would anyone here refuse to craft something for me if I gave you all the ingredients?

I wouldn't refuse anyone!  And I plan on maxing whatever is relevant to the character class I pick.  I also like crafting, there's something soothing about it, in an OCD way.
