Swords vs Daggers
Anything you can do outside of your auto attack is considered a skill. Skill cast times and cool downs are not affected by the base attack speed of your weapon. However, if you have a piece of equipment that gives a percentage reduction to attack speed as a bonus that reduction applies to both your normal attack speed as well as the cast time of skills. With this consideration note that "skills" covers several subsets of skills that includes spells. The attack speed bonus does not care about the subset of the skill only that its a skill and thus spells have their cast times reduced as well as melee skills.
Thought this information might be useful for the sins here to figure what weapon they're going to use.
This basically means that end game swords will be strictly better as the main hand weapon. Since auto attack generally wouldn't be used, and end game gear and skills will easily put your sin over 450 crit (the soft cap), daggers pretty much have no advantage over swords anymore, and the higher base damage of swords would be needed to do more damage with all your skills.
Off hand weapons wouldn't matter, since only their additional stats would be carried over to your skills, so base weapon damage/speed/stats would be meaningless. This would mean that you should pick a weapon with the best bonus stats.
Interesting...I was definatly liking swords more than daggers on my Ranger.
The top ranked guy on my china server for asmo is a sin with dual extendable daggers from FT, he's a beast, it's sick to see in action~
Good, I've been using swords the entire time.
Those daggers do seem pretty good, but no +attack speed though. Also, do you know how it works if you only have 1 extendable dagger? Like, does your non-extendable weapon just whiff when you swing at a faraway target?
Esso once recomended to put dagger in main hand and sword in off hand and it worked just awesome. So i don't know how it is to use only daggers or only swords.
I have always prefered daggers over swords
It would be nice if like... there were some MP ++ on attack like energy in wow; that would make daggers better in a way, but OP for Sins.. yay unlimited runspeed. :)
In my opinion ive always prefered daggers over swords on an Assassin, they may not do as much damage, but the attack speed on daggers and the critrate/dmg is higher so it balances out for that. It just seems awkward in my eyes to see an assassin with swords/dualswords If people wanted to play a toon with swords, why not choose a Gladiator or templar? =p

LOL
I totally agree, although when I played WoW; I would always go comabt swords while leveling, and then for PvP I'd switch to daggers.
