Chain Skill Problem?
Alright so my wonderful chanter is 16 and I'm trying to figure out these chain skills.
I'll do the Hallow Swing > Sonic Eruption.
Alright then when Hallow Swing is off CD I'll do Hallow Swing again. Alright so here is my problem. There is another chain that goes off of Hallow Swing(can't remember the name, Sonic Swing maybe?) but that doesn't show up for me so I had to put it next to Hallow Swing. Is there a way to get it show up if Sonic Eruption is on CD?
(Gosh I hope this makes sense.)
I think you're talking about where the chain skill replaces hallowed swing on the action bar for the combo. Cleric later has one skill that triggers two different chains and you have to choose one. As far as I know, there isnt a way to get one chain skill to show up in place of the trigger skill over the other, the only thing you can do is either click the one that isnt showing up when it shows up in the middle of your screen or to either take the skill like you did and place it next to the trigger skill so you can easily click it. Sorry if this post is one big ball of confusion, lol. :P
Setsuna's right though...
Really; I wouldn't click anything...
Clicking is a bad habit.
You should have hotkeys and keybinds for -everything- you use in a fight; or in a 30 second basis.
That's my personal rule as a major WoW arena-crazy.
Alt and Ctrl are easily clickable. There is -also- shift. Which is amazing.
So in all reality... If you're right handed you could have four abilities bound to the same number.
1 ; Alt-1; Shift 1; Ctrl 1.
It may sound a little crazy and/or powergamey.. but for top end pvp content... I would think it would be a must... but... I am a crazy top end pvp-person.. so... I may be a little nuts or obsessed.
*raises hand for being guilty of clicking*
I can keep my left hand on the 1-4 keys and reach 5 and 6 as well, but after that I have to keep looking at my keyboard to press any of the others... so any tips or suggestions I'd love to hear.
For instance, do you keep your right hand on the mouse or on the 7-0 hot keys? How can you click Alt - anything without looking at what your hands are doing??
Sorry if I sound like such a noob :P But I do want to get better so feel free to give me specifics.. I won't be offended
I've not been much of a keybind person unless I was on my shammy in WoW. But I started out with keybindings on her so it's not that difficult. Is there a chanter who uses keybindings that could maybe help me out with what should be going on. Won't do me any good until the next beta weekend but I can write it down.

What I personally use, is unless i'm running around an area (not counting pvp), I keep both hands on the keyboard, I move with either the num pad, or WASD if my right hand is busy, I am equally good at either, so it doesn't matter which. This keeps your right hand free to hit the 7~ keys you are having trouble with. I would be VERY hardpressed to give up half my hotbars because I couldn't reach the keys, if you have seen my screenshot's of my hotbars you would understand, by the time I hit 32 I was half way filled on my third (alt-) hotbar, the first 2 completely filled. With half those taken away I would be in trouble in any of a small handfull of situations w/o the spell readily at hand.
So that's my advice if you want to make better use of your right hand than just finding a permanent home on the mouse, which is imo a waste.
^^ Different strokes for differnt folks I guess. There is no way I am not going to be using my mouse to maneuver. Especially when it comes to arial combat. How do you look around Sakei when people are above or below you?
There are many mouses available today with more than just the left-click, right-click, and scroll wheel buttons to bind spells to. I use my mouse to bind multiple things.
I primarily use my mouse as well as the wasd keys to navigate and look around. 1-6 are my main spells, next alt 1-6, then shift 1-6. As for the question about how you press alt without looking at what you are doing...look down, your thumb is probably allready on your space bar, just bend your thumb inwards and BAM there is ur alt key. Also for shift, just use your pinky. All things like buffs, or things on a super huge cooldown I leave for 7 through =. These I usually just click as I don't need to be hitting these things on the run.
Another tip is to bind things around the wasd keys B,V,C,and X are all reachable by pressing down with your thumb similar to hitting the alt key.
I dunno I'm 6'3 with long guitar playing hands, I can probably stretch my hand around more than the average joe I guess. My best advice is to just try to find something that works for you. Any new keybinding setup is going to be awkward at first, so farm some easier mobs until you get that muscle memory down.
I am a wonderful mix of clicker and keybinder. I come from WoW where there is a GCD(global cooldown) of 1sec. this means that if you can reach it in less then a second(pretty easy) then its just as effective as keyhitting. however I still mainly use keybinding for my spells. I use 1,2,3,4,5,r,f,g,x,z, and 7buttons on my mouse. I find that that is usualy enough for all the spells I need to use very quickly, mostly for clicking I use it for largercooldowns(a min or more) or food/water, potions. I will at least be trying chanter in the next beta but as it seems now I dont think ill love it very much(im a healer FOREVER!!!!) but ill see what your talking about and try to help ya. also for Aion I click combos in order to save room on my skillbars.
I personally use F1 - F12 keys. F1 - F4 and F5 - F8 all have GAPS in between them, making it easier to feel your way around the keyboard without the need to look. Also I have like a default configuration for most of my skills. Like I'd put a ranged/provoking skill at F3 all the time (being a warrior I don't usually have many of these) F5 for a buffing skill. Quick-cooldown skills on F2 or F1 (if F1's not default attack).
My tip is to find a way to make it easy for you to navigate the keys without having to bend your hand in odd ways. Aion allows for some really good key binding customization. Play around with it and when you have found an ideal configuration, practice it. It takes me a while to get used to putting new skills on a key which used to be for something else, a few hours of play will usually fix it.
Hope this helps you.
Good thing we have CB4 coming this weekend. Going to try out a lot of different keybindings this weekend!

There might be a macro availiable... it depends.
I haven't looked into Aion coding but I could tell you the macro as if it werein WoW. ;/
Not sure if that would help. ;x
I mean.. heh.. prolly diff coding. It basically says... Use skill; use chainskill --- use secondary chainskill if prior chainskill is on cd.
I miss you Tachyaera...
