The letter below was in my inbox today.  As with most legion issues I felt it necessary to deliver to you for deliberation.  You may vote above, and a link to the forum topic is below the letter.  Please read and consider this carefully.

Greetings to the members of Elysium and its Leader(s),

I am Lindol an Elyos Cleric from the Legion “Knights of the Divine Order.” (KDO) I have sought you out amongst the Elyos nation to ask for your sword in an Alliance of our people. KDO seeks to instill a unity amongst our people by inviting the leaders of all Legions to represent their interests along side others who share in their struggles against the Balaur and Asmodians. We Elyos are truly blessed by Aion and through much work, together we can return our land to Aion’s original intent.

The “Elyos Order” will ask that each Legion’s leader and a second in command be present at secret meetings to discuss battle and economic plans for the advancement of our people. Being a member of the Elyos Order will be an honored yet secret appointment. Gatherings will not be held in the public eye and correspondence between it’s members are to be kept secret. Should you accept my invitation you must agree to allow all members the right to speak freely and place their equally vote towards our peoples goals. Our actions will be unified though your Legion will be yours to run alone. You must never attempt to tell another member of the council how to rule their Legion.

Joining will start the beginning of a true alliance of our people.

Share your goals, wants, needs and plans with a nation of people who wish a work for the same as you.

Reply to this message with your intent, for or against please.

I believe that it is way too early to forge alliances. I chose to wait.

I also think we should wait. We don't know for sure what these guys are like. All we have is the letter.

By accepting an alliance with KDO before the game starts and before really getting to know them you are taking the same risk as accepting new members into Elysium.  You really don't know people until you get a chance to deal with them day after day in-game.  Do they group well, do they share resources, do they have a sense of humor, are they a leader or a follower, are they respectful to all?  These are just a few questions that are answerd (spelling?) after you have played with an individual for awhile.

You can always form an alliance now and if things don't work out hopefully we could part as friends with differences.  Or wait till game begins and see how they deal with their legion and see what their general philosophies are.

I guess you could say I'm on the fence, either accept or wait till in-game.  I don't think either choice would effect us severely positively or negatively.

After typing this all out I realize this could be considered a useless post Laughing, but I'm gonna post it anyways.

Be nice, always be nice, until it’s time not to be nice.

Wow, talk about “RP”. o_O

The game hasn't even started and the legion thing is already pushing it a bit with 6 months ahead of release, now an alliance proposal? damn, people are really in a rush to complete what would normally take a year or two to accomplish. Without even knowing your allys or enemys, this alliance would be meaningless.

Many would think “If I dont join this alliance, maybe I will be left out in the dark”. Time will tell for those that are truly worthy to be allys, not just by words. I, like others, wants to wait till the game actually start, get to play with some of people on the server, knowing how each one plays and acts, before settling down with an alliance. Alliance means serious business for me, it means DEDICATION just like when being in a guild. I wouldn't want to jeopardize our reputation and fame by joining and leaving alliances if it doesnt turn out as we want it to be.

My 2 cents.

My most heart felt thanks for the consideration of such an alliance between our people. I am pleased to read the deliberation of your members on the finer points of committing to such a purpose. I have sent out one such invitation to over 14 found Elyos Legions that currently have their own web site and forum up and running. I’m further pleased to announce that you’re the only Legion to date to openly post the invitation to be discussed.

As stated before I’m a member of The Knight of the Divine Order and would welcome any of you to stop in and post as you please, as the posts here hold a respectful tone and articulate nature. The questions about KDO and forming an alliance this early are well received and needed. Seems the resolve of this Legion’s members is a resounding “not yet” and I think it’s a proper response. I look forward to getting to know all of you over the next few months and building that Elyos bond, as I’m sure many great things are in store for both our great Legions.

May Aion bless your Legion as you grow into a formidable Elyos foe to the Asmodian and Ally to your brothers and sisters in Atreia.

ps as a side note i've enjoyed reading your KOS thread.

Wow lol. No kidding on the RP thing xD. I mean it does sound like a good idea and very tempting, but waiting I would think is the best option. Do we even know all the legions already signed up? As it stands, things are still floating about, not everything is finalized. We don't even know if some proposed legions will even make it to the game launch. And I have to agree with Chobits. An alliance really is a serious thing and I think we should find a good solid legion we will be comfortable with instead of jumping around.

Besides, have our legion even agreed on what server we shall play? We cant really be allies with legions from other servers now can we?

That was my first thought as well. I am voting on “wait” as it is waaaay to early in the process to start building alliances since there are just too many question marks at this point.

I was going to vote 'wait' but then I switched to 'need more information'.

I think it's obvious we need to wait, there's still so much we don't know about the game, and even less we know about the other legions and people in the alliance. If there's going to be an alliance I hope it goes along with the vision. I don't mean a 100% match (tho the more the better) but it would be difficult to play with people who have a different outlook on how the game should be played.

And about the RP, wouldn't it be confusing if half RP and half don't?

Oh this tickles me :) !! I love the refined language of your proposal, Lindol. Finding such is a rarity, as the love of language is, unfortunately, a dieing artform. We, now, call it roleplaying to engage in a discourse of this nature when, at one time, it was normal fare. How disappointing!!

So, in attempting to keep within the roleplaying spirit, I respond thusly:

Lords and Ladies of the Knights of Divine Order,

I welcome your gentle suggestion of alliance. It seems only natural to form such linkages now, and your beautifully formed prose makes the offer highly tempting. I believe that indulgance of this idea should commence henceforth, but that solidifying an alliance of this nature is to wait until we are able to discuss this fully over pixelated beer in a social gathering place of your choosing. I await the day that we can run together, and assist each other in a goal that, I feel, is most definitely commonly shared. What goal, ask you? The goal of capturing and maintaining as many castles in the abyss, say I. To that end, I scream my HUZZAH…and bid you farewell for the time being, and only for this brief period. For I know that we will soon meet again, as hopeful allies in a time sooner than soon!!

As an aside, would you be kind enough to post your website link so that I may post my words of gratitude for your offer? One last thing, please remember me to Knite, as his youtube video still maintains the top position of my top 10 :) . Fare thee well

As I read my post on this subject, I felt I went a little bit overboard. so I shall apologize Lindol.

This alliance proposal will surely be needed when the times comes. I did not mean to be such a “jerk” toward your “RP” way of typing, and again, I apologize. I found it very entertaining actually, never have I seen such a way of writing on game forums. =)

I wish you luck with all the other guilds your fond of like ours.

May Aion bless you too Lindol, may it.

See you in-game hopefully. :)

Well said, AionLuver.  Your words seem to exemplify the opinion of the legion thus far.  This thread will remain open for further discussion and entertainment of this generous offer.  Perhaps, Lindol, you would be so kind as to explain how a cross-server alliance would be managed?  As to the question of time, and the proposal that it is far too early to form an alliance, shall I remind all spectators that in far too many eyes the formation of this legion occurred “too early.”  I suggest that it is knowledge, not time, that is the issue.  Perhaps once we have acquainted ourselves more closely we will be more apt to decide.

AionLuver,

I wish to begin by saying “Thank You,” simple formalities, how captivating the thought of a civil correspondence between newly acquainted persons. I concur and will delight in fulfilling your request to postpone such further discussions on the matter of alliance until the day we may meet face to face and truly embrace a bond of fellowship. The goal of restoring our God Aion’s world to its former glory is truly one in the same and can begin by the sharing of our Legions desires for its people. Until that day shall pass I lift a glass to you, the formation of a friendship at hand as I offer further writings to disseminate knowledge about our people and our purpose.

Your friend in earnest,

Lindol
