Ranger Update

So Aion has been officially released in the US for 2 weeks now. I was wondering how everyone was liking thier Ranger. Are you wanting to throw down the bow and re-roll, or have you fallen even more in love with your Ranger?

For me it is the latter. I hit 28 last night which is the highest level I hit with my Elyos Ranger on C-Aion. To me this means that all content from here on out will be completely new to me, this is exciting indeed. Everyday in the abyss I get a bit more confident, and my nerves subside much quicker when facing opposition than when I first stepped foot in the abyss. I am getting better at knowing when to run and when to stun (rhyming pun?).

Was just wondering how all my rangers out there are doing...

I am in your boat Manic. Comcast had an outage on Sunday morning but when they recovered my latency seemed drastically improved and my jumpshot was landing ALOT more. Yesterday i did the quest to get my lvl30 daevanion chest and i replaced a couple other pieces of armor-boom shakalaka! I will never put down the bow, this is too damn much fun.

Yeah, I am really liking the Ranger too. The only thing that is making me second guess my decision is the Mages, I can solo kill every other class in PvP but the Mages because of that damn shield. Plus, grouping with Sakei I seen Sorcs do a shit ton of damage. People are telling me to stick with the Ranger because in the 40's their burst gets even higher ... so since I am really ehoying the playstyle of the class and can't wait until the 40's to see what the hype is about I will stick with the class. I can't really see myself playing any other class as a main.

Andi, I also got my daevanion armor earlier this week, I got the legs though because the chest piece I had was better. I think I am shaping up pretty well so far gear wise, without even buying an Abyss item yet ... check out my character here.

I'm still torn. I've kind of left my ranger behind, because clerics are fun.

I somehow got a a sorc to 17 before I realized 'WTH? My sorc is WHAT level?". Just get in a mindless pattern in Verteron of chaining nukes (some with snare capability) with a kite pattern and resting and BAM, levels.

But back to scouts. I got an assassin at nearly the same level as my ranger (12 vs. freshly 14), and...the assassin just seems to murderize in melee, even though there's practically no skillset differences yet (have like one extra melee skill) and the assassin is much undergeared relative to the ranger.

I don't know. I'm still cleric main, but Hide, even just plain Hide I, just opens so many doors with sneaking. The sorc just kicks in the door with nuking with extreme prejudice, while the cleric just goes through slow and steady like a chanter with nukes and bigger heals.

It was so damn painfull untill 19... now im 23 movin up, getting alot better! i love the crits with stunshot! It seems to be a very dynamic class and im jump shoting and kyting with ease. I cant wait till the abyss to try out the Ranger - Assasin duo me and Tinuviel have goin.

Ranger seems very hit or miss in pvp, this coming from experiencing them as the opposition. I can totally roll a ranger, or I can get destroyed before I can cast a single spell, just depends on crits and stuns it seems. They are nasty to have in a group because you can't run away, damn insta-snare. Assassin's are stupidly easy, even as late as 35 it seems, I took 2 35 sin's at the same time as a 35 sorc, cake walk didn't even pot. Certainly formitable class in pvp and something to take with caution~

@Searos - You know, I am starting to not like you. You're seeming more like a douche everyday. I get this is a joke but everyday you talk as if you are the greatest. We understand you think you're good and are proud of it but there is a such thing as over-confident.

@Sakei - I agree, the Ranger seems to depend on luck. I still haven't figured out how to beat a Mage (I can kill everything else solo.. but not mages)... but I know when I attack another class like a Cleric, I can sometimes destroy them and then sometimes loss (I haven't had a Cleric destroy me yet .. well, excluding that level 40 when I was only level 30.) I also feel bad for the Assassins (more like all melee classes except for Temps); they seem to have a huge disadvantage in PvP a lot of the time.

I wouldn't worry about the mage classes so much at this level Lanzo. Just remember as we reach our level cap, we will have even MORE burst capabilities, meaning that those mage shields will become more of an afterthought. Also, with soft caps on crit, accuracy etc, it could be viable to start stacking a bit of Magic Defense at later levels.

If we were able to take out every class every time the game would not be balanced...we would be OP. So I expect to win some and lose some. It is just a bit frustrating because the class we are having the hardest time shutting down right now is the class that we were originally supposed to be designed to take out - mages.

And at the Searos comment. I know him IRL and I know his comments are meant to be funny and light. I'll talk to him to see if he can maybe tone it down a bit .
