GameStop gets all the good stuff...maybe.

EDIT: Btw, there's a rather decent review of Aion and Aion's OST over at RPGFan. Go check it out if you have the time.

Not only does the June edition of GameInformer (GameStop's magazine) have an exclusive article on Aion within its heavily-subsidized pages (attached to this news post, at the bottom), GameStop's website also has a detailed listing of Aion's Collector's Edition up for anyone to view (screenshot attached)! Thanks goes to DeeDoubleOhEhm and Untamed for alerting AionSource.com via this thread.

There's two things going on. One is preordering. By just preordering Aion you get various benefits, including:
  • Access to all Aion Beta events, and early head-start access to Aion live game.
  • Access to Aion server and character preselection.
  • Exclusive in-game items including the Dark Cloud Helmet (stat boost), Talisman of Lodas (XP boost), and...[insert retailer-exclusive item here].
The second important thing to know is what's supposedly contained within the Collector's Edition of Aion:
  • 6.5" hand-painted figurine of a winged Asmodian warrior-goddess
  • Exclusive in-game items including an exclusive wing set with stat boost, exclusive color dye, two (2) emotes, and exclusive collector?s edition title with stat boost.
  • The official Aion soundtrack CD
  • Full color poster and map of the world of Atreia
Looks pretty good to me, content-wise (other than all the hardcore Elyos fans getting shafted by the figurine's race). Well, actually, there's one other sore spot: the Aion soundtrack. Almost anyone who wants it already has it, thanks to YesAsia (free shipping from Korea is awesome). Hopefully the poster is something we haven't seen before and the map is on something more durable than paper. Everything else seems pretty cool though, especially the wings and title. I want those...bad. However, I'd take all this with a grain of salt and...don't preorder just yet. Did you hear me?

Don't preorder (yet)!

Is this what Ayase twittered about yesterday (and I retweeted)? Perhaps NCsoft has something more important to share with us than the contents of Aion's Collector's Edition next week? Perhaps they will tell us which retailers get which special items (for instance, GameStop gets the Ancient Ring of Fire while BestBuy gets...the Ancient Earring of Flying Simians)? Perhaps they'll also give us a release date and overhaul the official website's entire look and feel? Wait, no, that's impossible. It couldn't be that easy. :p

In other news...NCsoft's Korea's CEO is sitting pretty again and Shanda is giving even more free time away to noobs (their words) in an attempt to get even more people hooked. Is it working? Probably. The population of 100+ servers can't be wrong, can they? We'll find out soon enough. ;)
